Eco Club | Shaanthi ICSE School, Periyakottai
At dawn on 2 February 2026, thirty-five Shaanthians stepped into Annakudiyiruppu not with backpacks, but with purpose. In seven bright teams, guided by teachers and carers, they walked the lanes teaching a simple, powerful habit: care for the earth begins at home.
With gentle voices and clear charts, they showed neighbours how to sort kitchen scraps and flowers for compost and keep plastic, glass, metal, batteries, and e-waste ready for recycling—two bins, one planet. They spoke of clear drains, safer animals, and cleaner streets, turning everyday choices into acts of stewardship.
The message found allies. Sanitary Inspectors Mr. Selva Kumar and Mr. Siva Kumar, along with Area Councillor Mrs. Sakunthala Mathivanan, applauded the children for planting awareness where it matters most—doorsteps. Afterward, the young eco-ambassadors shared a simple breakfast and returned home, tired but shining.
How this shapes Shaanthians: it grows responsibility through action, empathy for nature, and civic courage—habits that outlast a single morning.
The streets grew cleaner; the future grew kinder.
