Flowing Knowledge – Shaanthians at the Water Works

On 29 January 2026, young Shaanthians of Class S5 from both Jothi nagar and Periyakottai campuses stepped beyond textbooks and into the living heartbeat of science at the Water Purification Plant, Ambarampalayam.
Seventy-five learners from JNR and fifty-two from PER watched an everyday miracle unfold — how raw river water becomes the crystal clarity that reaches our homes.

From the river confluence to the last safety check, students followed water’s remarkable journey. They saw how it is first drawn in, gently filled with oxygen through aeration, allowed to settle in vast sedimentation chambers, sifted through layered filtration beds, and finally made safe through chlorination before it flows out to the community. Machines hummed, tanks glistened, and curious minds absorbed every stage with wonder and thoughtful questions.

This visit shaped Shaanthians into aware guardians of resources. By witnessing science in motion, they learned that every glass of water carries effort, engineering, and environmental responsibility — nurturing respect for nature, precision in thinking, and gratitude for what we often take for granted.
