At Shaanthi ICSE School, Periyakottai, sports are not merely about winning medals; they are about building character, confidence and resilience.
The Annual Sports Day, held on 24 October 2026, was a vibrant celebration of discipline, determination and team spirit, organised by the Department of Physical Education with the support of teachers.
The march past by Agni and Varuna Houses showcased remarkable coordination and unity. Aswanth R. (S10 A) led as the school flag bearer, while Selva Gugan S (S10 A) hoisted the National Flag. House leaders Rohit S, Dhiya M, Charan G and Dhanshikaa B, all from S10 A, proudly represented their respective houses.
A memorable highlight was the Olympic torch ceremony, led by Akilan K, Pavin Kumar S, Daaron Aldrich K, Hashini Devi S. R. and Harshini P—students recognised for their achievements at state and national levels. The Sports Meet was declared open by Mr. Senthil Kumar, Mrs. Chithra Dandapani and Mrs. Mahalakshmi, in the presence of Mrs. Shantha Kumari, Secretary of Shaanthi School.
As the races began, the field echoed with enthusiasm, effort and healthy competition. Every event offered lessons that extend far beyond sports: discipline through practice, resilience through setbacks, humility in victory and respect for others in competition.
At Shaanthi, sports form an essential part of holistic education. The playing field is a classroom where children learn to work together, face challenges courageously and discover the value of perseverance. These experiences help shape not just successful students, but responsible individuals equipped for life’s many races.
At Shaanthi, the greatest victory is not simply crossing the finish line first, but becoming stronger in character with every step.
