S1 Day Out to Theppakkulam Library | Shaanthi ICSE, Jothinagar
Ninety-eight Shaanthians stepped into Theppakkulam Library with eyes wide and voices hushed by wonder. Entry slips were filled with care, and soon, young readers were gently ushered into a world where shelves held stories waiting to be chosen. Guided warmly by the librarian, Mr. Sivanantham, the children explored rows of newspapers, magazines, and storybooks that quietly invited attention.
Each child found a corner, a chair, a page. Without reminders, silence settled naturally. Amid regular readers, our students observed, adapted, and absorbed—not just words, but manners, patience, and respect. Pages turned slowly, questions sparked softly, and curiosity deepened into calm focus.
As the visit drew to a close, gratitude filled the room. Many children left with a simple wish—to return with their parents and let reading become a shared ritual.
This visit taught Shaanthians that learning can be gentle, discipline can be joyful,
and books can shape behaviour as much as minds
