A Whale of a Lesson – Where Learning Measured 35 Meters of Wonder!

On an ordinary morning at Shaanthi School, Periyakottai, the ground turned into an ocean of imagination. As part of their science lesson “Life in Water,” our spirited S2 Shaanthians didn’t just learn about the blue whale—they brought it to life!

Under the guidance of their teacher, students measured and outlined an enormous 35-meter blue whale on the playground—each metre marked not just distance, but discovery. As they traced the creature’s eyes, blowhole, ventral pleats, and flippers, the playground transformed into a living diagram of marine majesty.

Standing beside the whale’s outline, students looked small yet inspired, realising how vast life beneath the waves truly is. From the first-floor balcony, their peers watched in awe—a blue whale unfolding below like a masterpiece of science and art.

This hands-on adventure reminded every Shaanthian that learning isn’t confined to pages—it lives in the open air, in curiosity made visible. Activities like this don’t just teach facts; they nurture perspective, awe, and respect for the world’s wonders—qualities that shape great thinkers and compassionate individuals.
