Whispers in Stone

On 07-08-2025, our S5 Shaanthians from Jothi Nagar stepped into a chapter of history written not on paper, but in stone. The Subramaniya Swami Temple in Pollachi—also known as the Thiruahatheswaramudayar Temple—rose before them, its walls echoing with a thousand years of devotion and artistry.

Built by the Konga Cholas, every pillar, carving, and arch spoke of a time when craftsmanship was a form of prayer. Students traced their fingers over single-rock sculptures, admired the intricate designs, and paused before pillars that seemed to hold up not just the roof, but centuries of culture.

Guided by their Social Studies lesson on India’s Material Heritage, they decoded the stories hidden in stone—myths sculpted into curves, beliefs etched into inscriptions, and beauty shaped by hands long gone but never forgotten.

It was a walk through an open-air textbook, where art, history, and spirituality met under the same carved roof.
