When Jothinagar Danced with Onam

At Shaanthi ICSE – Jothinagar, September 8th was no ordinary school day—it was a canvas
painted in petals, laughter, and tradition. From the morning bell itself, little ones arrived
carrying blossoms from home, their bright smiles adding to the festive glow. Soon, every
classroom floor bloomed into living art, as children and teachers came together to weave
vibrant Pookalams.
But the day wasn’t just about flowers—it was about stories. Teachers shared with glowing
hearts the tale of King Mahabali and the timeless spirit of Onam. Eyes widened, curiosity
sparked, and the festival became more than tradition; it became a lesson that lived and
breathed.
And then came the moment that stole every heart. With claps echoing in rhythm and graceful
steps gliding across the space, our teachers surprised the children with a spirited Kai Kotti
Kali. The hall erupted in joy as students clapped along, their eyes twinkling with wonder. For
that magical moment, generations blurred—teachers and students stood together, not as
performers and audience, but as one family dancing in joy.
The celebration closed not with silence, but with hearts full—hearts that carried home the
fragrance of flowers, the rhythm of dance, and the warmth of togetherness. Onam at
Jothinagar was not just seen or heard—it was felt, deeply and joyfully.
Here, festivals don’t just arrive; they leave a glow that lingers long after the petals fade.
