When Devotion Flowed Back to Nature

Margazhi arrived softly, carrying prayer on its breath. Across Shaanthi Montessori School – UDT Campus, Shaanthi ICSE, Jothinagar (JNR Montessori), and Shaanthi International Play School, Mahalingapuram, young Shaanthians walked the same sacred path—one of faith, rhythm, and return.

Days before the immersion, classrooms transformed into spaces of reverence. Tiny fingers traced kolams brightened with fresh blooms; gentle hands shaped Pillaiyar from earth itself. Thiruppavai verses floated through corridors, turning mornings into moments of calm devotion. Teachers spoke in simple stories, helping children feel the meaning behind every ritual.

The journey then moved outward—to flowing waters. At the Krishnapuram Canal, Udumalpet, and the Ambarampalayam River, children gathered with wonder in their eyes. Before the immersion, laughter and rhythm met devotion as little feet danced kummi along the riverbank. The Pillaiyar idols, adorned with flowers and mulaipari, were lovingly immersed by teachers, symbolising gratitude, impermanence, and harmony with nature.

In watching the deity return to the elements, children learned a gentle truth: faith can be joyful, traditions can be lived, and respect for nature begins early.
